The Irish Conference on Game Based Learning (iGBL), formerly Irish Symposium on Game-Based Learning, now in its sixth year, provides a forum for all stakeholders interested in exchanging ideas, projects, and best practice on the use of games and game-based approaches to support motivation, learning, and change. It is a forum for like-minded people ( i.e., students, teachers, researchers, or companies) to meet and share this enthusiasm for this platform.
The 1st International Workshop on Gamification and Games for Learning (GamiLearn’17) in conjunction with CIVE’17, is being held on June 5-6, 2017 in Tenerife, Spain. The inclusion of game-like experiences during the design process of learning experiences has been tried and tested as a means to engage students. This approach can be applied either by considering game design principles in the course structure layout (i.e gamification) or directly using games as discrete learning resources.

Often based on Bayesian & mathematical/statistical modeling at the back-end, games can augment strategic decision making or replicate multivariate outcomes in role playing environments.

On May 5, 2015, the National Board of Medical Examiners will complete 100 years of service to the public and the health professions. The NBME plans to celebrate this milestone with a yearlong series of activities that will honor its past and look toward its future. The centennial year will open with NBME’s 100th Annual Meeting in April 2014 and will conclude with an invitational conference in May 2015. The invitational conference will focus on NBME’s future by featuring presentations of the finalists selected from the NBME Centennial Prize Competition.
